Lino Reduction Printmaking

Take your Lino printing to the next level with this in-depth reduction print workshop, designed for those who have already explored the basics and are ready to go further.

Reduction printing is a beautifully thoughtful process. You’ll learn how to plan and carve in stages, working “backwards” to build layers of colour from a single block. With each layer, your design evolves, becoming richer, more detailed, and more intentional.

This workshop invites you to deepen your connection to the printmaking process, encouraging patience, creativity and a new way of seeing your work unfold. As each layer is printed and carved away, your edition becomes increasingly rare, resulting in a truly limited series of artworks.

It’s a rewarding and slightly addictive way to create, perfect for anyone ready to expand their skills and dive deeper into the world of lino printing.

You’ll leave with your own layered prints and a strong understanding of reduction techniques, opening up exciting new possibilities for your creative practice.

During the session you will:

• develop a simple design for your print
• learn safe and effective lino carving techniques
• explore inking and hand-printing methods
• create a small set of 2 layer prints to take home

Themes you can choose from

• Inspiring landscapes
• Colourful florals
• Patterns on fabric

You are also very welcome to bring your own theme or idea.

What’s included

All materials are provided, including Lino, carving tools, inks, and high-quality papers. Refreshments are included so you can relax and enjoy the morning.

  • I had a fantastic morning with Heather at a 1:1 lino printmaking workshop. She really clearly explained the tools and processes and I couldn't believe how much we accomplished in a couple of hours. I'm so pleased with the print I made - she showed me some interesting ways to play with colour and texture. I would absolutely love to go back and do more with Heather and would highly recommend both her workshops and her beautiful work.
