‘Returning to Spring’ - A Stunning Collection of Contemporary Landscape Artworks by Heather Moore
Walking through woodlands and parks can be such a meditative experience, especially when you do it free of technology. You can be on the outskirts of a city and still feel cocooned in nature only a metre or so into the trees. It becomes a multi-sensory experience between the ever changing colours in the wildlife and the skies, the textures of the rough bark and delicate flowers, the smells of blossoms and the sounds of the birds chirping and scurrying.
Spring feels like a time for renewal, growth and coming back to life after a dormant and dark winter. It’s the time when the colour returns to the world and reignites our energy. A little more sunshine makes all the difference to our mood and the new blooms punctuate it with added joy.
An Artist’s Love Affair with Spring
Spring is a time of renewal and rebirth. From the birth of new chicks to the appearance of blossom, there is new life popping up all around us. That renewal and influx of colour and noise can have the feeling of bringing us back to life after a grey winter of hibernation.
LM Montgomery said "That is one good thing about this world... there are always sure to be more springs". No matter how grey a day gets, we always have that hope and promise of spring and that’s what I love to capture in my original artwork.
In this blog, I will take you through some of the springtime stories behind my work.

Questions to ask yourself when getting ready to style your home
I’m no interior designer. I am contemporary landscape artist and an interiors enthusiast. I understand the importance of composition. It’s about finding balance and flow in art and it’s the same for any space too.
At the end of every episode of The Curated Nest Podcast, I ask my guests the same quick fire questions and they glean a variety of answers that are very telling and aligned with the kind of home that they want and that will nurture them. It’s not about spending megabucks on a total renovation but about understanding the essence of what your home is to you and how it can enable you to feel you best. Let’s dive into the questions and how they can help you to find your home vision.
Classic or modern?
Maximalist or minimalist?
Country or city?
Swimming pool or games room?
Chef or cleaner?
Following trends or instincts?
From The Peacock & The Printmaker to Heather Moore Fine Art: spreading my wings and thinking big
I have been toying with the idea of changing my business name for quite a while now. The thing that has held me back is the fact that I love the romantic story feel of ‘The Peacock & The Printmaker’. The trouble is that I want to expand my repertoire of media and experiment a little but that means shedding the niche of printmaker.
I don’t think there was one specific moment that prompted me to make the decision - I can’t pinpoint it at least. I just know that there has been a lot of change in my life - change with me, disruption in my family and generally things that have made me look at life and business a little differently. I feel braver and more adventurous and that makes me want to create larger pieces with a range of materials that will enable myself to express my ideas and emotions in different ways.
Is it Worth Using Registration Pins for Linocut? A Review of Hickman Design Registration Pins
As with other pins that I have used, the Hickman Design Registration Pins result in perfect alignment for every layer. Knowing that this is the case saves brain power on every layer with just a small amount of prep required before any ink is rolled out. The pins are made from steel and the tabs are hardy flexible plastic so they are both reusable. Price wise they are very affordable and each set of 2 pins comes with 20 tabs - great of you work in limited editions like me and you can always buy more tabs to extend your edition.
What makes these pins a little different is that they come with screws so that you can secure them into a wooden base. This is ideal if you work in a regular size for every print because then you only ever have to set it up once.
‘Pantone Color of the Year 2026’ - What was Intended to Bring Calm Has Infuriated the Masses
When Pantone announced their colour of the year for 2026, I thought it was a hoax. It felt like an April Fool come too soon - a cop out or even a stunt designed to get us all arguing so that their brand gets a big boost in visibility (the cynic in me was leaning this way - it certainly has resulted in a lot of chat across the internet).

Where I Find Beauty: A Meditation on Colour, Connection, and the Changing Seasons
Where do I find beauty?
It felt like such a simple question, yet as I sat with it, all these vivid, heartfelt images rose to the surface — moments, memories, tiny sparks of joy that weave colour through my days. I reached for my journal and let the words spill out. What emerged became the seed of this blog.
I find beauty in my daughter’s smile and laugh — the kind that fills a room with warmth.
In the crumpled nose of my nephew when he giggles, and the all-in, wrap-you-up hugs from my niece.
I find beauty in the colourful leaves and berries that cling to branches this time of year, in the twist of stems, the scatter of fallen petals, and the fractals of ice beginning to creep along pavements and windows.
Beauty lies in colour and pattern all around us: pink lipstick, funky jewellery, the boldness of art.
It’s in the creative process too — in the mess, the mistakes, the happy accidents that turn into something meaningful.
It shows up in music, films that make us feel something, comedy that makes us snort-laugh, books that speak to the soul, and the quiet genius of a good puzzle.
It’s in a home-cooked meal.
A heart emoji from someone you love.
The gentle comfort of a hand held in yours.
And the thing that struck me most as I wrote was this:
beauty isn’t rare — it’s everywhere. We just forget to look up and notice.
Using Art as a Starting Point For Home Decor
Redecorating is either something that you trust your instincts on or something that you dread. If you are in the latter camp then this blog is for you! You’ll also love The Curated Nest magazine - a free digital interiors inspiration magazine (Get it here).
There are many ways to start putting together a scheme for a room. Here I am proposing (surprise surprise) that you start with art. We often have an emotional gut reaction when we see a piece of art that we love. We choose it because it makes us feel something. That instinct can be the starting point for your whole room set up.
How to Buy Original Art For a Loved One
Buying art for someone else can feel intimidating. You might find yourself asking things like ‘What if they don’t like it?’, ‘What if it doesn’t go with their decor?’ or ‘What if they never hang it?’. These are all reasonable concerns so I am here today to help you ask some more constructive questions that will help you to find the perfect piece for that special someone.
There are a number of factors to consider - the recipient’s tastes, what brings them joy and what they want their home to feel like. You might also consider whether they own their home as this may affect how they hang the artwork.
Here are some key questions to drop into conversation or ask yourself about that person.
Where’s your happy place?
How do you want to feel when you get home?
What colours make you feel that emotion?

A Gift of Colour and Calm: The Art Lover’s Christmas Guide
As the seasons change, I’m always drawn to the shifting colours and textures that appear in nature — from the glow of late autumn light on the coastline to the soft pastels of winter mornings. These changes inspire every piece I create: the sense of calm that comes from standing still in a landscape, and the quiet energy that stirs beneath it.
This Christmas, I wanted to bring that same feeling into gifting — with a collection of hand-printed artworks designed to share colour, warmth, and connection. Whether you’re looking for a thoughtful stocking filler or a statement piece for someone special, here are a few ways to make your gifts truly meaningful this season.

Lancaster Art Fair 2025 – A Joyful Week of Art, Colour, and Connection
In August 2025, North East artist Heather Moore exhibited at Lancaster Art Fair in the historic Storey Gallery. Her nostalgic art and original colourful lino prints drew collectors and visitors who connected with the memories and stories behind each piece — from wild North Sea seascapes to vibrant florals and the symbolic Manchester Bee. This blog reflects on the highlights of the fair, the inspiration behind the work, and what’s next for her limited-edition lino prints for sale.
leaving a ‘secure career’ to become an artist: Heather Moore’s Story
Changing careers brings up a lot of emotions to be processed as well as practicalities that need to be dealt with. To some, it may seem like an easy decision. I knew it was something that I wanted to do and that I had the tools to do it but it was still scary. Scary, exciting, bewildering…
This is the warts and all story of how I left teaching to become an artist.

Harnessing the Power of PR as a Creative Business Owner
I used to think getting my work in magazines was hard but now I know better. Now I've been in multiple mags, newspapers, on podcasts and on BBC radio, I KNOW that it is actually pretty simple.
Getting PR like this raises your profile and trust value and trust is crucial when selling luxury items like art. Your clients need to buy into you before they hand over the money for what you make.
If you’re ready to ditch the nonsense and have your artwork celebrated in the public eye then make sure you avoid making these mistakes:
1.Thinking‘I’m not interesting enough’
2.Being unprepared
3. Being spammy or pestering them
