‘IT was the sweetest, most mysterious-looking place any one could imagine.’
Chapter 9 opening, The Secret Garden
A whole host of plants fill this canvas as if you were in Mary’s lovingly tended secret garden. This piece features fuchsia, dicentra, lamb’s ears, ranunculus, crocus and a magical archway in gold leaf that beckons you into the wonderland.
Big sister of the buttercup, the Ranunculus (bottom right orange flower) is a somewhat more substantial flower but with the same innocence and element of fun. It’s fragrance free and makes up for it in the colour that it packs.
Created in a combination of acrylic, gold leaf, pastel, oil pastel and pen on canvas, texture and colour are the stars of the show. You’ll be spotting new elements for a very long time.
This colourful piece is perfect decor for a busy entertaining space.
