Remember the beginning of the 1951 animation Alice in Wonderland where Alice is sitting under the tree reading her book? That’s what I thought of when I started painting this tree. It’s that point when the magic is about to happen - the sun shines through the branches creating warmth and colour.
The gold leaf trunk and branches echo the magic and capture the sunshine throughout the day while the leaves are built up in different media to create texture and always leave you with a new mark to find as you sit and wonder.
Perfect decor for a reading nook.
