The way the stamen flutter and the outer petals seem to fling themselves out like dancing arms always makes these flowers feel quite human to me. They twist and twirl in the breeze ans their ‘skirts’ spread as if spinning on the dance floor.
Fuchsias are always present in my nana’s garden and have become a favourite of mine too. The bold pinks and purples of the summer variety bring joy to any corner or flower bed. It was important to me that I capture their vivacious energy which is why this one is mid twirl and 3D with thick layers of paint, constructed tissue petals and wire stamen. This combination adds depth and the gold leaf takes us right back to the shining rays of the summer.
Perfect decor for a colourful kitchen.
